GREETINGS
Hi everyone it is that time for an update of Charity Support.
So what have we been up to? The first thing we can talk about is training, training is going very well, I am sure there will be an imprint around Weymouth with the amount of times I have run around the town.  The same can be said about Bovington and Clive’s routes. We are progressing very well and are on schedule - I completed a half marathon on Saturday 26th January and felt good so that was good for the confidence.

OUT AND ABOUT
During this period we have carried out a lot of ground work for Charity Support, building relationships with businesses and generating support from lots of people.  I visited Hope FM in Bournemouth and had a 40 minute interview talking about the plans for Charity Support.  Clive and I visited Age Concern in Weymouth for a chat with Nigel and some of the residents. Dorset Echo also turned up to take a few pictures of us all which was nice, thank you to Harry for the photo shoot.  Age Concern are clearly moving forward and they have a great set up at Pilgrim house, we also had a look at their new internet suite that has just been set up.

FUTURE EVENTS/VISITS
So what do we have coming up?  Well first of all we are hoping to visit one of the military hospitals during Febuary, please keep checking back here for updates.  We are also looking at visiting St Christopher's Hospice.  We had a great visit to Weymouth FC on the 5th February who have been very generous in supporting us so far.  We currently have 200 tickets for the Weymouth v Histon match on February 23rd where kids go FREE and the accompanying adult goes for £6.50 which is half price.  £1.50 from each paying adult comes back to Charity Support and 50p from an additional child who pays just £2.50.  Please contact us direct for tickets!

WEYMOUTH RAFFLE
We are currently organising a community raffle in aid of our charities on Charity Support. We would like it to be a huge raffle but we do need your help. We would like to take this opportunity to ask businesses to donate a prize for the raffle, it doesn't matter how small (or large!), anything would be appreciated that could help to raise funds.  To start the ball rolling, thebestof Weymouth and Portland have donated a great prize for a child to be a mascot for the day with The Terras at Weymouth FC.  In return we would happily offer advertising space on the Charity Support website to all businesses who supply prizes.  So please, please have a look into your charity lockers and see what you could give. The Raffle will be drawn during the Best of Dorset Tourism Show at the Pavilion on Sunday 16th March where you will also be able to buy last minute tickets (find us on thebestof Weymouth and Portland stand) Over the next six weeks, we would also be grateful to hear from any business who would be willing to sell tickets for us.  Please email details of your prize or to volunteer to sell raffle tickets for us to charity-support@hotmail.co.uk  For any help you can give us, large or small, we thank you.

BEST OF DORSET TOURISM SHOW
We will be a part of the Best of Dorset Tourism day due to the very kind offer from Julie Wilson of the Best of Weymouth and Portland giving us part of her pitch during the day so that we can meet people, fundraise and of course draw the raffle.  We will also, hopefully have with us a tank from Bovington for you all to look around, and there will be a competition to win a prize!  So come along and we’ll see you there.

FINAL THOUGHT
Well I think that's about all for now, but do please check the website for updates, or just email us with any questions you may have.  Also let us take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you in advance for your support, it means a great deal to us and especially our charities.  Between us let’s put Weymouth and Portland firmly on the map, not just for events like the Olympics but for what we can do for others as a community.

Take care
Chris and Clive
